You’re unlikely to encounter a swan at your local public park; at Swan Lake Iris Gardens in Sumter, South Carolina, you’ll see all types of this large bird that for many symbolizes beauty and elegance. And, as the name implies, the park is heavily planted with Japanese Iris. A host of other birds and flowers are a delight to see and complemented by sculptures. It is a place of supreme tranquility that is not to be missed if you’re ever in central South Carolina.
